My first trimester was a breeze, to the point where even though an over the counter test and the doctors test said I was pregnant, I still didn't feel anything - No cravings, no sickness, no weight gain. The worst two things were fatigue (a need to nap everyday - darn it :P ) and my chest in pain due to... expanding. I was lucky. VERY lucky.
Two days after my second trimester started I had horrible back pain, which subsided thanks to chiropractic care and rest over two weeks. I have also had my left hand/arm/left cheek go to a tingly numb once. I've had cramps, which feel like period cramps but of course are not. In the evenings I get acid reflex (go TUMS). And last night I had horrible rib pain to the point where I could not breathe, screeched a little and woke up a puppy. Most things I have read about all of these issues have been, "Oh my doctor says deal with it, it is normal," or "my doctor had no idea and told me to keep track, I had to just deal with it," or what not.
I've told my doctor about the hand/arm/face numbness and she was concerned but not sure how to deal with it because it wasn't typical of other pregnancy symptoms - like certain fingers or only my hand or whatever. I also told her about my lower back pain, at 14 weeks, but she wasn't sure how much it had to do with baby since baby was still so small. Ugh.
Now why am I telling you this? Because of all the cRaZy people who not only say pregnancy is WONDERFUL. Everyone and every book you read say that you feel your best during the second trimester. Well, this is where I am feeling my worst, thus far. Aches and pains mostly. And I know it can be worse but it isn't all fun and games like TV, Movies, and some mothers want you to think.
I learn something almost everyday about things that can happen during your pregnancy, things that happen during your labor and birth, and things that happen after birth. It is NOT a pretty process (which I knew) but so much is kept under wraps.
I just want ONE book to tell me everything!!!!
Whine rant over.
:-P
